Israel’s Peculiar Position‏

The Jews are a peculiar people: things permitted to other nations are forbidden to the Jews. Other nations drive out thousands, even millions of people and there is no refugee problem. Russia did it, Poland and Czechoslovakia did it. Turkey threw out a million Greeks and Algeria a million Frenchman. Indonesia threw out heaven knows how many Chinese and no one says a word about refugees. But in the case of Israel , the displaced Arabs have become eternal refugees. Everyone insists that Israel must take back every single one. Other nations when victorious on the battlefield dictate peace terms. But when Israel is victorious, it must sue for peace. Everyone expects the Jews to be the only real Christians in this world. Other nations, when they are defeated, survive and recover but should Israel be defeated it would be destroyed. Had Nasser triumphed in June 1967, he would have wiped Israel off the map, and no one would have lifted a finger to save the Jews. No commitment to the Jews by any government, including our own, is worth the paper it is written on. There is a cry of outrage all over the world when people die in Darfur or when China puts down a revolt in Tibet. But, when Hitler slaughtered Jews no one demonstrated against him. The Swedes, who were ready to break off diplomatic relations with America because of what the US did in Vietnam, did not let out a peep when Hitler was slaughtering Jews. They sent Hitler choice iron ore, and ball bearings, and serviced his troops in Norway. The Jews are alone in the world. If Israel survives (and it will because the Bible predicts it), it will be solely because of God. Yet at this moment, Israel is the only democratic nation in the Middle East which is reliable and unconditional ally of the west and democracy. We can rely more on Israel than Israel can rely on us. And one has only to imagine what would have happened in the six day war, 1967 had the Arabs and their Russian backers won the war, to realize how vital the survival of Israel is to the West.

Anyone who loves God has no choice but also to love Israel. Anyone who supports democracy and freedom has no choice but to support Israel. I do not understand Churches which are anti-Israel. How can Churches like the Presbyterian Church in the USA call itself a Church when they promote boycotting Israel. At the end of the day it is us according to Paul in Romans who are grafted into Israel not the other way round. As far as I am concerned, Christians who stand against Israel and are anti-semetic must ask themselves do they really believe in the God of the Bible. The God of the Bible is also the God of Israel and if you hate Israel I take it you also hate most of the Bible. You cannot have it both ways. When I was growing up must Churches publicly stood with Israel but now most Church hardly ever mention Israel. What are we ashamed off. The Jews are God’s chosen people whether you like to admit it or not. A fact is a fact whether you agree with it or not and God doesn’t need your input to decide what is a fact. So I call on all Christians everywhere to stand with Israel throught think and thin. That is what the Bible calls us to do.

Hi Peter … I read your article and you are right … I work with a messianic organization in London (Chosen People Ministries) and to be honest some churches are a bit “nasty” when it comes to the Jews/Israel and it shouldn’t be like that … but God is on their side and will always be because of his covenant with them … those against them are actually agains God … so there is no need for those people to ask themselves weather they believe in God and the Bible because the answer is simple NO (or they don’t read their Bibles enough…:) by the way thank u for the article … 🙂

Thanks Ramona. Unfortunately many Christians are not only nasty towards the Jews and Israel but they are blatantly anti-semetic as well. There is no room in the gospel for anti-semetism and if you are anti-semetic I doubt very much how you can claim to be a believer in Jesus who incidentily is Jewish and His real name is Yeshua.

    Hi Peter,
I really cant agree with this. The arguement that other nations have been allowed to displace people, dictate terms in triumph etc therefore so should Israel is pretty dodgy. A people who are to be held up as God’s should hold themselves to a mush higher stardard. Loving your neighbour means not just tollerating them, but saying to yourself, “I’m glad you are here and I want to serve you”. Same goes even if they are your enemy, and even if they act against you.
I would agree that we should affirm the fact that Israel is democratic, and affirm that their Jewish heritage and history is deep and rich, but we by no means need to support them in everything. Government sanctioned assasination, refusal to take part in nuclear disarmerment talks, reprisal attacks that go way, way beyond self defence are all a discrace and they did it knowng that they are the only country in the world to have the unquestioned support (thankfully dwindeling) of Britain and especially the US. Any other country would be up in front of the Hague, but Israel doesnt even recognise it.
I’m afraid being a good friend may mean love, but also rebuke for poor behaviour

Hi Sam, Sorry I think we will have to disagree on this one. You where saying that any other nation would in the Hague if they did what Israel had done. What have they done? They didn’t displace anyone. In 1948 the Islamic armies of Jodan and Egypt told their people to leave Israel immeditately so that they could destroy the Jews once and for all. Israel didn’t tell them to leave. Other countries have done worse. Why isn’t Cuba before the Hague or, North Korea, China, Belarus, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Yeman I could go on and one. If you asked any so called Palestinian where would they rather live most would say in Israel Proper as least there thay would have Freedom and Security. Also before 1967 there was no such thing as a Palestinian, they all had either Egyptian, Jordanian or Syrian. Also the media is totally biased against Israel. There are 100’s of examples I could give but here is one. Remember a few years ago when the film went round the world showing a wee boy and his father stooped down at a wall being supposedly gunned down by the Israelies? Well this was a fake both that boy and father are still alive today and the Journalist who shot it was found guilty in a French court. But of course the world’s media didn’t report that as they are mostly liberal leftists whith no moral compass. As for gaza and the so called West Bank being full of refugees, this is a blatant lie. The PA has received more money that anyother part of the planet. Also If you listen to Mosab Hassan Yousef the son of the founder of Hamas and Walid Shoebat a former PLO terrorist they will tell you what the so called Palestinian government is really like.

I know that you will probably not agree with me but at the end of the day it doesn’t matter what I or you think. It is what is proclaimed in the Bible. And the Bible is pretty clear on what will happen to Israel and how Jesus will rescue it from the rest of the world because of their evil towards Israel.

      Thanks for commenting.

Sorry one more thing if you are looking for a good book on the topic chack out Walid Shoebat’s (former PLO terrorist) book called “Why I left Jihad” or His other book called “God’s war on Terror.
